Exploring Astrology: Eclipse in the Garden (Podcast)

Dear Friends,

We’re nearing the third and final Eclipse of this season and I just got done recording the podcast above with my friend and fellow astrologer Adam Sommer, on his show Exploring Astrology. We explored the energy of the upcoming Eclipse, went off on a few interesting astrologically relevant tangents and stumbled on some deep insights. I hope you enjoy listening, as much as I enjoyed talking with him.

This Sagittarius Lunar Eclipse occurs at 4+ Sagittarius at 12:24 AM EDT, 5:24 AM and 9:54 AM INT GMT on May 25, 2013. Significantly, the Sabian Symbol for the Sun in Gemini, at the time of this lunation seems potently symbolic to me given Neptune will be in a T-square to this lunation at the time of the Eclipse.

PHASE 65 (GEMINI 5°): A REVOLUTIONARY MAGAZINE ASKING FOR ACTION.

KEYNOTE: The explosive tendency of repressed feelings and root emotions.

Every movement overstressing one direction calls forth in time an equally extreme movement in the opposite direction. This is particularly true at the level of the dualistic mind symbolized in the zodiac by Gemini. What is rigidly bound in form and convention tends to explode into formlessness. It may do so violently if socially oppressed — through revolution — or at the psychological level in psychosis; or it may withdraw inwardly into the mystical state in which one identifies with an unformulatable Reality.

This fifth stage is related to the first, for it is the experience of a world of being so far unperceived by the everyday consciousness which starts the process. In the same sense a psychedelic experience may momentarily make the mind transparent to a non-ego-structured realm of consciousness, and may lead to a sustained attempt at understanding what has been revealed of a transcendent Reality. Whether the revolutionary action is violent or peaceful, bitterly resentful or loving, the one desire is TO REACH BEYOND ESTABLISHED FORMS.

Gemini is the sign of duality, night and day, dark and light, hot and cold — but what we see as night and day – is really one eternal now. The Sun and Moon both exist simultaneously, it’s just a matter of a ‘higher perspective.’ With Jupiter, (Mercury and Venus) in Gemini now, the contrast to life has certainly been turned up to the max.

There is a LOT of information coming through, and Neptune’s aspect suggests there could be a lot of denial, confusion and projection flying around. So stay sober, grounded, seek inner clarity, then you won’t get caught up in others people’s movies or project your stuff on others. Where ever there seems to be a conflict, or dilemma, remember all the answers to all the questions in the world lie within you. It’s a matter of listening and being open to truth, allowing it to pierce the veil of perception. Then we can recognize there are also lucrative financial opportunities arising, as well as a chance to share deep truth and intimacy with another, deepening love and trust.

Love is always unconditional, but relationships are a choice. And with Venus, Mercury and Jupiter in a triple conjunction at the time of the Eclipse, there are huge choices to be made, and perhaps a sense of feeling caught between the past and the future. But this is all about heart to heart communication, and the art of negotiation. There is a way forward offering both the freedom as well as the deeper connection we seek — and it begins with deep honesty with oneself and others.

Perhaps the most exciting revelation came when I was speaking with Adam earlier. He started to speak of the story of Adam and Eve, when we suddenly realized how symbolic and deep a meaning it might hold for us now and the insight it gives us into the mutable signs of the zodiac.

God (Pisces) created Adam and Eve (Gemini, in the Tarot this is the Lover’s card, also Eve was made from the rib of Adam – suggesting “One” – that was then divided into “two”) they ate of the fruit of knowledge (Sagittarius,) which resulted in their “expulsion” from the Garden of Eden (Virgo.)

It was the fruit of knowledge from the tree of good and evil (duality) that separated them from the awareness their greater inherent indivisible divine reality, and its cornucopia of treasures.

So ask yourself where your misguided beliefs be preventing you from recognizing a sublime, divine truth. Now as the Moon is Eclipsed in Sagittarius, if we can let go of all we “think” we “know” [about someone or something, or life in general], we can discover a greater truth and the path to Heaven on Earth — our very own garden of Eden. And the Eclipse in Sagittarius is a reminder that there is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path.

Trust all you need is already provided for, and there is every reason to be optimistic. What you need now is faith, so you can make wise choices in the light of what you are learning, and what you’ve already learned over the past year through Jupiter’s transit through Gemini.

Now, the Moon is in Scorpio, (nearing a conjunction to the North Node as I write this) putting us on the path to destiny. Do all you can to consciously release darker emotions, or emotional attachments that do not serve you, not through projection, but through conscious release and surrender. There are also deep insights flowing through, allow them to guide you as you move towards the Eclipse tomorrow.

As polarized as a situation seems, as the Eclipse culminates, the Moon will also trine Uranus suggesting a breakthrough – offering a new perspective, or a whole other side to a story. Speak honestly, listen to what another is saying, be wise and avoid seeing situations in black and white. Then you can begin to embrace a more bountiful, hopeful, magical and colorful reality.
