Journeying through the Crossroads… : Grand Cardinal Cross, Hecate and Kelly Lee Phipps

~~

A stone’s throw from Jerusalem
I walked a lonely mile in the moonlight
And though a million stars were shining
My heart was lost on a distant planet
That whirls around the April moon
Whirling in an arc of sadness
I’m lost without you I’m lost without you
Though all my kingdoms turn to sand
And fall into the sea
I’m mad about you I’m mad about you

Dear Friends,

Here we are in April, one of the most anticipated (or not) months of the year with a rare Cardinal Grand Cross aligns on April 23, 2014 as Mars in Libra, Jupiter in Cancer, Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn align in the shape of a cross, forming 90 degree angles to each other with the Earth in the center.

There may be a feeling being stretched to the limit, pulled in four directions or cornered with no way out. But as the month progresses a situation is reaching critical mass, leading to a much needed breakthrough, restoring imbalances of power, paving the way for a new future.

Everything is up in the air and subject to change at a moment’s notice. There’s no point in trying to predict it. Or as Michael Lutin said “It’s not going to go down the way you think. It never does with Uranus. In fact if you predict it, it CAN’T happen.” But it’s also true, you have more options than you think. And it is the choices you make and how you respond to situations, that will determine how the story unfolds for you.

But before I get into the astrology, I’d like to take a moment to remember astrologer Kelly Lee Phipps, who passed away on Mar. 25, 2014 after his battle with brain cancer. Kelly’s contribution to astrology and the astrological community is invaluable. He was clearly loved by many, a true Aquarian in his ability to bring people together people, in life and in death.

It’s his memorial today, Apr. 2, 2015, and my heart and prayers are with his mother Brenda, son Arian, brother Jason, his family, friends and all who loved him. And I ask you to keep them in your prayers as well.

I remember meeting Kelly in Denver at the UAC where he gifted me a copy of his film Return of the Magi. Since then we exchanged a few emails over the years and Kelly was always very generous with his knowledge. Allthough I did not know Kelly very closely personally, his enthusiasm, spirit and energy was certainly unique and left a lasting impression and I know I’m not alone in that sentiment.

Last summer, just a few months before Kelly’s diagnosis, I happened to hear an interview he did in which he spoke of how people with a very strong Moon-Mercury aspects in their chart, carry the signature of the Hecate — the Greek Goddess of the cross-roads.

I have a Mercury-Moon conjunction in my chart and I related to this deeply. It had been years since I contacted him last, but I emailed him right away thanking him for sharing that. He wrote back right away saying he would send me a copy of the book and the section for Hecate when he was done. Again, I was blown away by his generosity and graciousness to a relative stranger.

Ever since I’ve been researching Hecate, her myth and astrological influence more closely, especially now as we stand at this particular “cross-roads” in our personal and global history.

Then a couple of days ago, as I reflected on life, death, Kelly and the current astrology, suddenly it came to me to look up the asteroid Hecate in this configuration. And go figure she is conjunct the North Node and Moon, to the degree, at the time of the Total Lunar Eclipse on April 15, 2014!  Her presence with that kind of precision, and the series of events that led up to discovering her position, tells me to pay attention. And I have Kelly to thank for pointing the way.

So pay attention to what comes through in the days following the Eclipse, this is showing you need to know, so you can make wise, pivotal, life-changing choices as the Grand Cross aligns on April 23, 2014.

On April 15, 2014 a Total Libra Lunar Eclipse aligns with the Moon, Hecate and the North Node in an exact conjunction at 25+ Libra marking major endings and new beginnings, especially in relationships, asking for a balance between personal needs and the needs of another or others.

As the Moon is shadowed and then revealed again — similarly there is a sense of the slate being wiped clean as new information comes to light. With Mercury conjunct Uranus at the time of the Eclipse there are likely to be shocking, mind-blowing or surprising, at the least, revelations, and perhaps information surfacing that could change everything. As much as what’s unfolding challenges your beliefs, it is liberating you from patterns you’ve outgrown and oppressive situations. With the Sun on the South Node in Aries, there is a clearing of the past and a reminder that actions speak louder than words — yours and others’.

The Nodes of the Moon are very Karmic, evolutionary points. And in my experience, they represent the “entry” and “exit” points out of this cycle of life, birth, death and re-birth; out of the limitations of time and space, into eternity.

At the time of an Eclipse with the Sun and Moon aligned with the Nodes, we’re aligned with destiny, offering a greater than usual opportunity to be liberated to recognize one’s immortal essence and inherent one-ness with all that is.

Hecate was the Greek Goddess who guards “cross-roads” – often depicted as a trinity, or with three heads, symbolizing her ability to see the road, ahead, behind and what lies in between. Or in other words she sees beyond the three dimensional illusion of the past, present and the future into eternity.

Martha Lang Wescott says of the asteroid Hecate’s influence:

The inner sense—women’s ways of knowing—and whether one can trust that; night; dreams; whether the mother acted as a protector; “crone” stages of life or positions; intuitive wisdom; Hekate is sometimes important at or in connection with childbirth, and can show what wisdom is gained at other life passages.”

With Hecate at the North Node guarding the gates of destiny, the Eclipse may indeed come with a deep sense of knowing or calling, tug of emotion drawing you forth. And only when you’re feeling emotionally balanced can you make conscious wise, creative choices that take you down the “right” path.

This could get pretty emotional, so be patient and especially if something upsets you take a deep breath before you react impulsively. Release emotional baggage consciously, especially fears, abandonment issues, fears of betrayal commitment, being alone, anger, pain, resentment and or perhaps childish behavior, or behavior that has it’s roots deep into childhood, perhaps even lifetimes. Then you can forgive the past and truly be at peace with yourself.

What were the dynamics between your parents, caregivers or a your role-model for relationships? Let go of subconscious conditioning handed down by parents, society, authority figures, culture. Then you can discover your own being, and have healthier, balanced, equal, interdependent  where there is mutual love and respect, rather than co-dependent relationships.

Venus, ruler of Libra, is in Pisces at this time, the sign of her exaltation — a reminder that true love is unconditional, un-possessive and eternal. But you cannot change someone else, nor force someone else to love you or feel the way you do. Avoid getting caught up in a dream and let go of an “idea” of a soul mate, or fast money or easy success. Let go of expectations, then you won’t be shattered when the illusion or reality doesn’t match the fantasy.

You can’t bottle “love,” it needs air to breathe, or you’ll just end up suffocating it and putting the fire out. And truth is, we never know how much time we have with another before we are separated by the hand of death or life. Seek depth, and you could experience love that truly transcends physical limits of space and time. The more we are able to appreciate ourselves and others for who they are we can start to see the deeper beauty in someone or the value in a situation.

The Sun enters Taurus on Apr. 19, 2014, in the coming days make the effort to ground yourself in your values and what is important. On April 23, 2014 the Grand Cross aligns with Mars, Uranus, Jupiter and Pluto, from the vantage point of the earth, with the earth suspended in the center.

This is a tremendous amount of energy we’re working with. And as much as I hate to say it there is the likelihood of natural disasters at this time. The Sun is in Taurus, the sign that represents the earth, our physical body and all physical, material energy.

You cannot control the forces of nature, all we can do is do our part in being conscious of the environment, and in event of an emergency respond effectively so there is a proper distribution of resources where necessary. What is though in our control are the wars we wage on our own kind — globally or in interpersonal relationships.

It’s easy to feel completely powerless in the times we live in. But really this is all bringing us back to the center — the Sun — your consciousness — you are the center of your Universe. People are too busy trying to correct the world, when they haven’t even been able to find peace within themselves, or conquered their own ego.

The only thing to fear is fear itself, the planets are not stationary and nothing in life is constant. Being paralyzed by fear, is possibly be the only thing that could get you caught in the “cross-fire” or feeling like it. We are not doomed or surrounded by the “enemy” with no way out.

As the planets move and the earth turns, this is a pivot, a turning point, like a cartwheel, the lock of a safe or vault, or a gear that shifts clicks into place opening doors that were previously shut, new opportunities on the horizon, beckoning us to a new adventure.

With Mars and Uranus in opposition this is hot fiery explosive energy. It only takes a ‘spark to cause a wildfire’, especially under these conditions. And the more you’ve made the effort to release emotions consciously in the days following the Eclipse, the easier it will be to ground yourself even in the face of a whirlwind of change, without feeling like you’re spiraling out of control in an explosive situation.

Be inventive, creative, spontaneous yet humble and grounded. Pride and ego will have its fall, and this energy to me feels like the Tower card in the Tarot. We may have little control over the avalanche of events but if you are grounded you need not fear the changes unfolding, leveling the playing field, so something can be rebuilt from the ground up on solid foundations. This is true for situations as well as relationships.

Taurus though can be known for it’s “immovability” and resistance to change. It is also the sign that rules commitment. It’s important you keep your center so you don’t get swept away, but at the same time be flexible — know when to stand your ground and when to give way. If you bend, you won’t break. Then you can survive whatever storm life throws at you, in awareness that, this too shall pass.

Taurus’ strength and secret to endurance, lies in its patience, perseverance and ability to stay the course, understanding that life has its cycles. If Scorpio rules death, Taurus rules life itself. And even after complete surface destruction, wild-fires ultimately enrich the soil, and make way for new growth.

What’s happening now many be challenging you to let go of entrenched habits but the Sun in Taurus is a reminder, that you cannot lose anything that is valuable or real. And a powerful Taurus New Moon and Solar Eclipse on Apr. 29, 2014 asking for a conscious clearing of space and weeding out what’s unnecessary so something new can take seed.

As above, so below. We are indeed at a cross-roads, but move with the times, be spontaneous and fearless. Life is propelling us forward to a new start in relationships as well as financial situations, bringing the real security you need.

Reality, as you will see, is a lot more fertile, fecund and abundant than you imagined.
