The Wisdom of Nothing

As the angel was readjusting her Wings

(as she prepared for her Guardian duties)

She asked the man-child playing in the sandbox

“What is the wisest thing you have learned so far in life?”

I don’t know,” he said and went back to his sand.

“Perfect!” she said.

Much has happened since the last time I wrote. My friend Kevin arrived from NYC last week for a short holiday. It’s his first time in India, and we [along with another one of my closest friends Mihika] arrived in Goa, late Friday for a week of sun, sand, sea and stars.

I knew this was still a working holiday for me – so I was prepared for that… But there is something else weighing on me (and I tried to avoid writing about but I don’t think there is a way around it.)

My father’s sister passed away on Saturday. She was unwell and at the ICU since around the time I arrived in Mumbai 10 days ago.

Every day that I planned to go see her – in the last 10 days something came up and I would go the next day. Finally I did go to see her the day before I left to come to Goa – but I made it 10 minutes past ICU visiting hours and they would not let me in.

My biggest fear when I am away from home (India) is that something happens to my family and I would not be able to make it home. And now although I had the chance to see her, I didn’t. I did have to work through guilt to understand there was a bigger reason for my not seeing her even if I can’t see it.

The debate between fate and free will is an eternal one. But in truth, this apparent divide and duality exists only in the mind.

We have no control over birth or when we are born, nor can we control death. Yet somehow we think we can control over what happens between those two. Life is an experience of one everlasting dynamic eternal moment.

Jupiter in Aries squared Pluto in Capricorn yesterday. This is asking for inner trust in the midst of huge changes in our lives. We cannot control the external – but we can become the force of change we seek.

Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and a Cardinal sign, Capricorn is the last Cardinal sign. With Pluto in Capricorn there is definitely an unlearning in process and a return to the innocence, wisdom, evolving beyond power struggles and superficial conditioning to discover true maturity and understanding of what is precious.

The Pisces New Moon occurs on Mar. 4, 2011 at 3:45 PM at 13+ Pisces. Mars in Pisces sextiles Pluto in Capricorn suggesting a fertile magical new start awaits.

Tomorrow marks ‘Maha Shiv Ratri’ [Great Night of Shiva] which occurs every year two days before the Pisces New Moon representing Cosmic consciousness. In Hinduism Shiva is the God of death and destruction but also of eternal life, which is what Pisces represents.

The two days before any New Moon mark the Balsamic phase of the Moon, the most potent and fertile phase. It marks the end of a cycle and the beginning of another. There may be a sense of dissolving into nothingness, but only in this complete dissolution can there be an experience of something divine.

There is something magical happening now. Life is but a cosmic dream. As Uranus prepares to change signs next week – we are about to awaken to a new reality. Dare to dream and the Universe will conspire to help you manifest.

Love from Goa, India
