Event Description:

Join us for a talk with Priya Kale deepening our understanding of Karma as we prepare for another series of eclipses.

This talk will present Karma in its original Vedic wisdom. What is often lost in translation is the unique wisdom, of the Vedas, preserved and practiced over the centuries in India.

Karma has a long history, first appearing in the Rigveda – the oldest known Vedic Sanskrit text. Most of the Rigveda Samhita was written down between c. 1500 and 1000 BCE, but its ideas about Karma trace back to the ancient Vedic oral tradition in the 3rd millennium BCE. It has been a centerpiece of Vedic theology for several millennia.

‘Karma’ is the Sanskrit word for “action”. Karma is classified into three distinctive types – Sanchita (accumulated), Prarabdha (ripened), and Kriyamana (current). This talk will introduce these three types of Karmas to a Western audience in an accessible way.

We will also study a few verses on Karma from the Bhagavad Gita, as revealed to Arjuna by Lord Krishna while on the battlefield of the epic Mahabharata war – considered to be an allegory to the struggles of human life.

During the second half of the talk, Priya will introduce some practical steps for using this Vedic knowledge as guidance, as we navigate the intense “dragon energy” of the eclipse season. She will share her observations on Karma as it relates to the Natal chart, how the Aries-Libra axis relates with Karma and Advaita (non-dualism), the South Node as the Moksha Karaka (‘who gives spiritual liberation’), and how the Eclipses are likely to affect each of our charts.

No previous knowledge of the Vedas or Sanatana Dharma (Hinduism) is necessary.
