“We enter the week on a quiet note, the Moon growing into a crescent after the recent Scorpio New Moon moving us into this new cycle.

“There are major aspects unfolding this week and the energy starts to intensify with the Sun-Mercury conjunction early in the week on Tuesday, then Neptune stations direct on Wednesday, a Venus-Pluto square and finally the Sun’s ingress into Sagittarius.

“As we move through this final week of Scorpio season, things might seem to be getting “worse” rather than better. But this is the first Scorpio season since Saturn left the sign and this the final push, the darkest hour before we enter a new chapter. So it’s important we move in awareness and flow with the changes unfolding in our lives.

“Scorpio is the sign of death and transformation, with Mars (traditional ruler of Scorpio, entering Libra the sign of its fall) we’ve already seen devastating effects manifest over the world; reminding us of the nearness of death, to value the life we’ve been given — so we can leave the world a little better than we found it.

“Even in the midst of death and destruction, what matters is that there is evolution of consciousness. For all that is out of our control, how are you evolving in consciousness as a result of the world around you? Lives need not be lost in vain, if it brings about change in even one persons consciousness.

“Especially as Mars travels through Libra, this is starting a fire in the hearts of many who want peace. Mars is the ruler of Aries the sign of the “individual”, in the sign of “the other.” People responsible for these heinous acts, are perhaps those most needy of compassion.

“But compassion still doesn’t mean being foolish. You have to be honest with yourself, and recognise the consequences of your action or inaction. Mars in Libra energy reminds me of the lessons Sun Tzu’s Art of War, or Krishna in the Mahabharata asking Arjun to fight his own family; teaching that sometimes war is necessary, to rebalance the forces of good and evil.

“You cannot know your “enemy” until you know yourself first. Demons rear their ugly head, when one feels most subconsciously threatened or out of control. It’s when one feels like nothing matters, then the only way out is to destroy something, annihilate, even if that means self-destruction.

“This is the baser manifestation of the Scorpion, that will sting to death and die itself. But Scorpio also has two other symbols, the eagle that soars above it all and the phoenix that self-emolates and resurrects from the embers. Whatever forces in your life seem to be at “war” — you can rise above and allow yourself to be purified by the fire that threatens to destroy you.

“Birth and death are both beyond our control, and what happens in between isn’t either. Only in surrendering the illusion of control, through the process of ego death can we be liberated to realise reality as it truly is — granting us a glimpse beyond the veil. This is the gift of Scorpio — penetrative vision, to see beyond the duality of perception, into the essence of a core eternal unchanging reality.
