A Question
A voice said, Look me in the starsAnd tell me truly, men of earth,If all the soul-and-body scarsWere not too much to pay for birth.
— Robert Frost
We’re entering another life-changing week. We’re in the last hours of the Sun in Scorpio, slowly coming down from the energy of the Taurus Full Moon, exact on Nov. 14, 2016 bringing us to the end of a cycle, asking us to stay grounded in the face of the unknown.
On Nov. 21, 2016 the Sun enters Sagittarius at 4:34 PM EST and Neptune (currently conjunct the South Node) stationed direct in Pisces on Nov. 19, 2016, hopefully returning a sense of clarity.
With the Sun in Scorpio, this is an unfolding story and it would be foolish to think you know where this rabbit hole leads (on a personally and collective level;) so its important to be vigilant as we navigate these insidious waters.
I avoid talking about politics on the Blog because my work is about the inner work and the real journey is an inner one, of learning to balance our energy. But there was no avoiding the results of the US election, which felt like a punch in the gut. It made me physically nauseous for days, and I’m still processing my emotions.
No election or political event has ever incited such a powerful physical, visceral response from me. Because this isn’t about politics — this is about humanity, compassion, objectivity, fairness, truth, equality and freedom. And no matter who won, its clear the country is polarized.
On the same day in India, the government declared Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes void overnight “to combat terrorism, black money and counterfeit currency.” Meanwhile lives continue to be lost needlessly at war, even as we face dire humanitarian crises across the world.
This is Scorpio-Taurus. We’re seeing the darkest aspects of humanity — its materialistic values, greed, hunger for power, fear, lies ignorance, hate, sexism, racism, xenophobia, homophobia and the list goes on… — raping and destroying the earth, life, and all that is precious.
We live in a world where the balance of power is severely skewed in favour of a handful. And the Taurus Full Moon is deeply reflective of what’s currently unfolding on a profoundly personal, as well as collective, political, and global level.
It could be easy right now to feel small, alone, and powerless in the face of situations that seem larger than you — in your personal life (depending on where Taurus and Scorpio fall in your chart) and the world. But Scorpio is a reminder that no one and nothing can have power over you unless you give it away.
Scorpio brings change, whatever it takes. No doubt there are darker realities to confront, but this is also bringing recognition of what’s truly of value and worth fighting for, as we continue our evolutionary journey — personally and collectively.
With Mars in Aquarius, people are angry and situations are reaching critical mass as Jupiter squares Pluto this week, and opposes Uranus in December around Christmas — which is due to be a big bang. A democracy is a great thing, we have checks and balances to safe-guard the people. But for Democracy to work, people need to participate. I wrote this in a previous Blog and the words ring ever more true now in the face of the unfolding reality:
“The Pluto-Uranus square since 2012 has brought these issues to the forefront. As Jupiter moves through Libra over the coming year, it squares Pluto, and opposes Uranus in Aries — equalising situations, one way or another. With Pluto at the helm of the T-square — change is here, but with awareness there can be a conscious deconstruction, rather than destruction.
“You cannot control another, or a situation, but you can control your response, engagement or involvement. Even inaction is an action and you have the choice. It will call for serenity and wisdom, to change the things we can, accept what we cannot, and wisdom to know the difference. Ask yourself — peace, but at what cost?
“In any situation, whether on a collective level, or a personal one — as long as one sees things as “us vs. them” — or perceive a divide, you are part of the problem not the solution. This doesn’t mean one suffers in silence or ignore injustices; but true victory can’t be at the expense of another. Two wrongs don’t make a right. Only love can destroy [trumps] hate.
“Anger can be a great motivator; but no matter how passionately you feel about something, someone or a cause — until you can find a sense of balance within yourself, you cannot channel or direct the energy constructively. Then anger ends up being a destructive force, defeating your own purpose. It is only from a place of stillness and balance (Libra), that can you direct the (Aries) energy consciously to bring about creative, real change.
“Libra is a reminder — it isn’t about WHO is right, but WHAT is true. And there IS only ONE indivisible, objective, absolute truth. Jupiter in Libra asks for perspective, objectivity, wisdom, seeing the bigger picture and recognizing you are one of the equation in any situation that seems to be unjust or unfair.”
Taurus-Scorpio remind us change is the only constant. This is the “circle of life”: the Universe is constantly evolving (Taurus-Scorpio) through a process of creation (Taurus) and destruction (Scorpio.) We are a part of it not apart from it. Divisive ideologies and beliefs, are like a cancer, destroying the whole. And the only way to destroy the darkness of ignorance is to confront it with the light of awareness.
One way you can make an impact on the larger world, is through your buying power. Taurus and Scorpio are the money axis. Pay attention to how and where you spend your money. Support local suppliers when and as you can. Invest in alignment with your values; in small businesses, local suppliers, farmers, artisans. Lessen your carbon footprint. Change won’t happen overnight but there’s a sense of gathering momentum. If people put their money where their mouth is (literally in this case,) it would force companies to evolve their policies and be accountable for their impact on the environment.
On a personal level — no matter how stretched or drained (financially, emotionally, physically or otherwise) you’ve been feeling — the Moon is exalted in Taurus, suggesting you have all you “need” to create or attract the emotionally and material security you need. Start by acknowledging what needs to change within you. Appreciate and recognise the value of all you have. Your natural gifts, humanity, empathy, skills, abilities, talents, are all your assets. In your relationships and financially too it’s important you go beyond the surface to recognise what you value in your commitments.
As I post the Moon is in Leo, moving to square the Sun as it reaches Last Quarter phase bringing us half-way between Taurus Full Moon and Sagittarius New Moon. There are major aspects unfolding this week as Mercury conjuncts Saturn on Nov. 24, Jupiter squares Pluto on Nov. 25, and Venus conjuncts Pluto on Nov. 26, 2016 marking a huge turning point, moving us beyond a point of no return in important financial situations, commitments, relationships and of course globally. I’ve interpreted these aspects in detail in the Taurus Full Moon report.
The coming week marks a period of release, ego-death and letting go of attachments to people, things and outcomes — so you can reclaim power and freedom in situation that has had you in its grip.
On the deepest level, the Taurus-Scorpio axis is a reminder that we are nothing but clay in the hands of the divine potter. As the planets circle in their eternal cycle like a potters wheel, they reflect our experiences here on earth; moulding, shaping, and firing our consciousness, into vessels for the spirit that flows through us. Or a jeweller that polishes precious stones to reveal their natural brilliance and beauty.
Neptune’s direct station in Pisces is a reminder that ‘the Divine’ works in mysterious ways. No matter how dark things seem at the moment — the darkest hour is before the dawn and Sagittarius New Moon suggests there’s a new vision birthing.
Also, this is Thanksgiving week here in the US. Especially given the current astrological climate — be grateful for and appreciate all you have. Cherish the relationships and the people you love. Life is short and precious; and only love is real and eternal.
With love and gratitude for you,
Priya
