“This Full Moon takes place at 18+ degrees Scorpio as the Moon opposes the Taurus Sun at 11:01 PM EST on May 8, 2009 and on May 9, 2009 at 4:01 AM GMT.
At the time of the Full Moon the Sun and Moon are opposite each other in the sky with the Earth (and us) caught in the middle. The opposition heightens the feeling of polarity but essentially these are planets vibrating at opposite ends of the same axis bringing us to a full illumination of circumstances — hence carrying the energy of revelation, completion, and disclosure. If the Sun represents our conscious life force, the Moon reveals our deepest emotional landscape.
To understand the energy of this lunation on a deeper level, the Scorpio Full Moon also coincides with Buddha Pornima the Full Moon in the Hindu calendar that coincides with the night when Buddha was ‘born’ and enlightened. This in its deepest essence is the energy of the Scorpio Full Moon — of transcendence out of the mortal cycle of life and death.
