And if I told you that I loved you
You’d maybe think there’s something wrong
I’m not a man of too many faces
The mask I wear is one
Those who speak know nothing
And find out to their cost
Like those who curse their luck in too many places
And those who fear are lost

Shape of My Heart, Sting

Note to Self:

Love myself.
I am not innocent.
Actions have consequences.
So does my inaction.
Being is the only way to be.
Being is dharma.
Feel the fire.

Who am I?
Remember who I am
I am innocent
I am being
I am fire
I am Love
I am nothing.

I slapped my head as the Moon entered Aries yesterday. I left out one of the most crucial points in my last Blog about the Venus-Mars conjunction. Yes, relationships are heating up right now with all the Aries action, but this conjunction and now New Moon in Aries, really is about the Self.

As I write this, the Sun and Moon are less than a couple of hours away from their conjunction at 20+ Aries, at 5:35 AM EDT; 10:35 AM GMT and 3:05 PM INT. At the time of this lunation New Moon, Venus-Mars are still in close conjunction making this an extremely fertile energy for new beginnings personally, in relationships, financial situations and for creative pursuits.

But the days and time before the end of a Moon cycle is always unnerving. One may still feel raw from the past experiences, heartbreak, rejection, abandonment. And it’s true a cycle is ending, but the end is always a new beginning. Especially given this is the Aries New Moon — the first sign of the zodiac, the sign that represents raw, primal fire of creation, where the un-manifest becomes manifest.

Acknowledge and release the pain, anger, bitterness or resentment you feel. You can’t change the past, but as the lunation takes place and the Moon begins to grow, this is unequivocally a sign of new beginnings and new life. This is a re-birth of the self and return to innocence.

In relationships mistrust can be replaced with trust, fear with passion, but again the key here is learning to trust one’s self. Lay down the armor and weapons and lead with love. When one is able to love oneself, then one automatically attracts the resources, relationships or circumstances that liberate you to be the best they can be. But rather than focus on others right now — this is about knowing the Self, one’s own desires, fears, impulses, and loving one’s self first.

Then love becomes an outpouring of one’s being, a blossoming of the self, a process of sharing oneself (rather than a need) — a naturally attractive and charismatic quality. When one is committed to being their best self, then we automatically become the force of change in all relationships and our Universe in conscious and unconscious ways; not by “doing” anything but simply “being” oneself.

When I write the Blog I’m usually writing to myself. Especially at times like now, when I have a packed 12th Solar house and it all feels like walking on hot coals through the unknown. ‘I read the stars as a meditation…trying to find the answers in this sacred geometry of chance.’ But in my years of 33 years of studying and now 7 years of practicing astrology, I have grown in the understanding that we can’t really know the future, it is in a sense unwritten. But in knowing one’s self, one can respond to life creatively rather than react to it destructively.

Astrology above all is a tool for self-awareness. The current conjunction of Venus-Mars in Aries, is a conjunction I was born with in my Natal Chart. So in a way this energy is familiar territory for me and anyone born in around April-May 1977. And a timely feeling of returning to self – and reminder for me to remember to who I am (Aries keyword being – “I am”) rather than what I want or how to get it.

As the New Moon culminates today in Aries, ask yourself — “Who am I? Not my job, not my parents, not my name, not my nationality, not my gender, not my relationships, not my religion, not my beliefs, not my emotions, not my experiences, not my past, not my future. Who was I before I was born? And who was I at the moment of my birth? Who am I today? Who will I be after I die? And what is the eternal part of me will love and live on?” And then listen to the answers that arise within you.

Soon after the New Moon, expect things to start shifting and moving. Pluto stations retrograde on April 12, 2013 (a transit that deserves a Blog of it’s own but in short this is) taking us on an inner journey of transformation to get to the golden core of your potential — a process of turning lead into gold. In the wake of the Aries New Moon, this seems to be a message asking us to let go of past conditioning that has prevents you from being all that you were born to be.

Mercury enters Aries on April 14, 2013 and Venus, the Sun and Mars enter Taurus on April 15, 19 and 20, 2013 respectively. This is a clear suggestion that whatever begins now is extremely fertile and laden with potential — creatively, financially and within relationships. But it will take time, patience and commitment to nurture and bring to life.

So don’t be impatient or in a hurry to see results, they will come in due time. For now you just need to know where your boundaries are, how much something really means to you and what you are putting into it. Nothing or no-one is worth losing yourself for. When one is able to love oneself and stand independently in one’s own light — we can attract equals.

Tomorrow, the day after the New Moon is celebrated as Gudi Padwa here in India, marking the Hindu New Year according to the Vedic calendar. It is considered to be one of the most auspicious days of the year for obvious reasons to make any new start. Be conscious of what you are putting into motion now. Action and inaction both have consequences, but in “being” one can walk the path of dharma and liberate oneself from the karmic cycle.

Two weeks from now, the end of this New Moon cycle also brings us to a power Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio with the Full Moon in conjunction to Saturn asking us to draw a few clear boundaries, while allowing us to transcend a few others. And this Eclipse is really bringing us to a culmination of events that began to unfold at the time around the middle of November.

And really this Aries New Moon heralds the beginning of a year that promises to be a non-stop ride, with major alignments and transits occurring in succession starting this lunation, all the way through the end of this year and well into next year. Proceed with curiosity, caution yet fearlessness, a sense of adventure, passion, buckle your seat-belt and above all as you go through this year “Know Thyself…”

On a last note – here’s a song for the Aries New Moon… This one goes out to a very special Scorpio, who more than anyone has been a mirror to my Self, even when I haven’t been myself. I wouldn’t be who I am today without you. And I know I haven’t told you lately but thank you for being you, for helping me see who I am and teaching me what it means to love. No matter where in the world, it’s always a new day with you.
