Dear Friends,

We’re in the womb of a fecund and fertile Taurus New Moon at 12+ degrees exact at 6:50 AM UT on May 3, 2011.

At this time, there is a stellium [a stellium is an astrological term used to describe the conjunction of three or more planets] of planets in Aries – Mercury, Mars, Venus, Jupiter and Uranus are in a rare close conjunction.  Also very significantly, Uranus in Aries squares Psyche in Cancer hours after the lunation.

The Uranus-Psyche aspect to me stands out for its proximity to the lunation as well as for what it suggests. Squares allow us to turn a corner, but you never know what’s around the corner until you turn. Squares force resolution, but this can be experienced a lot more easily if we realize this is an internal struggle, not an external one.

Psyche represents the ‘sense’ of a wound that won’t heal, so with Psyche in Cancer, look more closely at your relationship with your mother. What were her fears for you or her fears that you are breaking free from? Or ask yourself what are your own insecurities, jealousies and fears that need to be let go? Especially address any issues of abandonment.

You can only be yourself. And the New Moon in Taurus is asking us to go deep within to find self-esteem and a reminder that you can never lose what is real. The Moon is exalted in Taurus, suggesting that there is solid grounding for this aspect. Rather than look for others to value you – focus on how you value yourself and what you have to offer. Value yourself and you can manifest the tangible abundance you deserve and the relationships that are worthy of you.

Uranus in Aries (in his square to Pluto and opposition to Saturn) is pushing through boundaries, awakening one to the true self – beyond the identity one has built and/or that’s been handed down by generations and society. If we can come out of our shells and dare to trust again like children, there can be a tremendous sense of healing and liberation, bringing deep a deeper sense of self-worth.

This is a New Moon in Taurus, the sign of the earth, and we will see the first signs of what is now taking root by the light of the Scorpio Full Moon on May 17, 2011. At that time Mercury, Venus and Mars (currently in conjunction with Jupiter in Aries) will be in Taurus, suggesting the very real nature of changes afoot and the solid potential available, but we have to trust in our own abilities to manifest something.

We are planting seeds for something that can only grow over time and depending on one’s dedication, love and effort. This is a very lucrative start for financial situations, and relationships have the potential to get deeper. But let go of expectations of the fruits of your efforts, and focus instead on your intention. Everything in nature takes its own time to grow, but with patience, dedication and hard work, the rewards are sure to follow. The earth doesn’t ask for anything back; it simply gives of itself. This is the way of nature, and this is the nature of love.

Taurus represents ‘physical energy’ – one’s body, one’s income, possessions and lifelong commitments. It represents ‘worth,’ self-worth, personal values and the things and people one values. Only in going beyond the surface can we truly understand the energy of this sign, which is all that is material dies, making this life on earth in the flesh all the more precious in its transience.

As you enter this cycle, take the time to center and ground yourself in what is important and real to you. Invest your energy into the relationships and situations that you value. And when in doubt remember only love is real…

On a personal note, I’ve been in transit all day after yesterday, when my parents all but gently ordered me to get out of the city and take a break. Following their advice, I arrived in Goa a little while ago, just in time for this Taurus New Moon in my sign, for some much needed grounding.

I hope to mostly catch up with writing (I have about 5 incomplete articles sitting on my desktop) and some down-time if I can squeeze it in (Taurus with Scorpio rising) before I head back to Mumbai and to NYC at the end of the month.
