It’s another Tuesday in the cosmos, and we’re definitely moving through some rather challenging territory.
After the intensity of the past months, it can be easy to think that things will never change or get any easier. We are still in Mercury’s retrograde phase, ironing out details, understanding the ground rules, absorbing and integrating all that has recently transpired.
On Friday this week, Mercury and the Sun will meet in an ‘interior’ conjunction, shedding light on a past situation. It’s important that we watch the tendency to worry during these coming days and channel it instead into being constructive and productive, and in having healing conversations.
Currently, the Moon is still in Taurus and will remain in the sign until Tuesday night. Find grounding, and secure your bases where you can.
Shortly after the Moon enters Gemini on Wednesday, Sep. 1, the Sun trines the North Node and solidifies situations, showing us the road to the future. Stay on track, and do what needs to be done. Easier times are around the corner.
Meanwhile, Venus and Mars are still traveling through Libra, turning up the heat within relationship and financial situations. With Mercury still in Virgo, watch critical energy in communication, it is likely a sign that something within you needs to heal.

Quick hello under these busy skies,
I recorded a podcast last night with Scott and Jennifer on the BS Follmer show. It was fun, as usual, and we talked about the astrology for the coming week. There is a Sun-Mercury conjunction coming up, followed by Venus’ trines to Neptune and Chiron.
There can be plenty of healing this week within conversation and relationships if we are open to it. Mercury is still retrograde and will only be out of shadow at the end of September. Stay on the path. Listen to the podcast for more about the energy we are navigating.
It’s Sunday afternoon as I write this, and the Moon is in Taurus. Take the time to connect with nature if you can — it will heal, ground, and stabilize emotions. Same goes with people: find comfort in the relationships that are loyal, tested and true. We can stabilize important situations over the next few days, or at least find a deeper sense of what we value.

Note: This article was first written on Aug. 20, the day Mercury stationed retrograde. (At that time, Venus conjuncted Mars in Libra, and Saturn in Libra squared Pluto in Capricorn.) Since then I’ve reworked and edited. I trust it is still timely and useful.

After I wrote the blog today, I felt “pulled” to catch the Matisse exhibition I’d been dying to see. I figured there couldn’t be a better occasion than a Venus-Mars conjunction in Libra to breathe in some art, be inspired, and come home to write.
I bought the exhibition ticket online for a 3:30 pm viewing. Walking to the subway, I worried that I’d made a mistake purchasing my tickets online – knowing that I was traveling exactly in the Mercury storm, which is “known” for breakdowns in communication and transportation. But then I heard my inner voice say, “Relax, this is a moment out of time.”
Just then, I also remembered that the last Venus-Mars conjunction in Libra, in 2008, was when I went to see the Dali exhibit. The energy was pretty surreal that day, and today it did feel like time was standing still.
The train arrived pretty quickly. I found a seat, pulled out my subway reading material — Dane Rudhyar’s ‘An Astrological Mandala’ — opened it randomly, and my eyes fell on this paragraph:
“Chaotic as events may be, one can nevertheless state that a person has the experiences he [or she] is entitled to, or has asked for, consciously or not – and no others. Events occur in relation to the process of actualization of his innate potential of being, i.e. his individual self.” I was already on a trail, but now I was on full alert.

The exhibit began with the quote above. In that moment, I knew I was exactly where I was supposed to be. The quote is so rich in its symbolism, and it says more about this Mercury retrograde in one sentence than I could say in paragraphs. When the Universe wants to send you a message, the writing is clearly on the wall (in this case a museum wall).
I found myself drawn into the mystery of the ‘Three Bathers and a Turtle.’ The figures in the painting are reminiscent of naked, pure, (Virgin) nymphs bathing by soulful (Piscean) waters.
You can also clearly see that Matisse reworked the canvas over time, as if the figures were “frozen in time.” The turtle is clearly more detailed and in focus than the figures, which draws attention to it. A turtle is a slow-moving creature that has an extraordinarily long life span. In a sense, it slows down perception of time and to me symbolizes ‘eternity.’
Mercury is the planet of communication; it moves rapidly through the zodiac like its namesake “quicksilver,” giving us a clue into the inherent quality of the mind. Mercury stationary can give the perception of ‘time’ standing still. Time, after all, is a human concept, when in truth we live in a continuous eternal moment.
Time may be fleeting, but it is also our perception of time that matters. Retrograde phases come along and show us the need to slow down and absorb what’s coming through. During this Mercury retrograde, separate illusion and confusion from facts and truth. No matter where it feels like you are running out of time – you aren’t.
Pay attention to your inner mental processes at this time. Mercury is the ruler of Virgo, the sign that rules one’s health and nervous system, the sign opposite Pisces that can with greatest ease channel a higher spirit. When the mental functions and excess thoughts overrule the “natural” state of being, the nervous system is over-activated, bringing worry, clouding clarity. One’s health is indeed a delicate balance of body, mind, and spirit, and an imbalance in any of these ultimately manifests in “dis-ease.”
With Mercury standing still and slowly moving backward in the sky, if we keep our minds open, there is the potential to channel a divine vision and inspiration. As the planets suggest, there are huge changes occurring right now, but there is nothing fundamentally wrong about an idea or a destination. This retrograde of Mercury in Virgo is only asking that we evolve and rework our thinking and reroute our journey if necessary.
An important day comes on Sept. 3, 2010, when Mercury makes an interior conjunction to the Sun. Expect to receive an important understanding at this time, but it is also likely that we will get hypercritical if we aren’t careful. Also at this time, Venus will trine Neptune and Chiron in Aquarius.
This can be a powerful time to seek healing within relationships rather than continuing to find fault with all that has gone wrong in the past. This doesn’t mean that we can sweep things under the carpet, either, but we are getting a second chance to recognize what isn’t working and then work toward finding solutions.
You don’t need to find the perfect words or the perfect answers. But if one’s intentions are pure, then we can trust the soul to do the talking; the right inspiration will eventually surface. Of course, it will require the conscious desire to heal something.
If you find yourself stuck on an idea or a problem, don’t wrestle with it. It’s like unraveling a knot: you have to be gentle or you only end up getting it more entangled and yourself more frustrated. Be patient; trust that this is part of a crucial process.
Mercury stations direct on September 12, 2010, and will reoccupy the point in the zodiac that it occupied on Aug. 1, 2010. Expect to be reviewing important conversations that began to emerge at the time, this time with our heads screwed on the “right” way again.
The Sabian Symbol for 20 Virgo, where Mercury stationed retrograde, reads, “A caravan of cars headed to the West Coast.”
Dane Rudhyar’s interpretation from his book ‘An Astrological Mandala’ reads, “…what seems to be clearly implied is a process in a which a group of persons are journeying together – thus linking their consciousnesses and energies (the “car” symbol) – in order to safely reach the goal of destiny. Here there is no longer any sense of competition, but an ordered and structured endeavor.”
This resonates with the rest of the current aspects that are culminating. With the shifts and aspects in Libra, the emphasis is on cooperation rather than competition.
Use the retrograde phase to find constructive solutions rather than criticizing just to pick something apart. We will pass this way again when Mercury completes its shadow phase on Sept. 27, 2010, allowing us to move forward with precious renewed understanding of how to work together as a team or collective for a greater purpose.

The Sun is now in Virgo as we head toward a magical Pisces Full Moon in a few hours — exact at 1:04 PM EDT at 1+ degrees of the Virgo-Pisces axis.
Full Moons bring revelation and a peak in the energy, and this one is no different.
As the Full Moon conjuncts Uranus at the end of Pisces, we can expect a few shockingly surreal surprises. Things may even get a little weirder than usual. But this is Pisces energy, so go beyond the surface illusion to see the beautiful vision and reality that we are waking up to.
With the Sun and Moon making solid aspects to Pluto at the time of the lunation, there is stability, healing and transformation in store. For maximum benefit, we just need to make the effort to reach for it consciously.
I’ll be back with the Full Moon report in a short while. Also, hopefully I’ll have the Mercury-retrograde blog up soon enough, along with the Venus-Mars report, which I wrote on Friday, the day when Mercury stationed retrograde.

Dear Friends,
We reach a major threshold of evolution today as Saturn in Libra squares Pluto in Capricorn. This is an aspect that has been in the process of culmination since November of last year.
Also today, Venus conjuncts Mars, Mercury stations retrograde, the Sun opposes Neptune and Chiron — and these are only the major aspects. This is more than likely going to be a high-energy day and weekend, so keep your head about you.
As you may have read, the time when Mercury stands still before it changes (apparent) direction is when buried information tends to surface. With the Sun opposite Neptune, all is definitely not as it seems, and we can expect goof-ups or leaks in the media over the next couple of days. Watch judgments and the ways you feel judged.
With Venus and Mars in conjunction, expect heated passion in interactions within relationships. People are falling in love just as much as they may be getting cold feet and waking up from painful illusions to a sweeter reality. As I’ve said before (and keep reminding myself), don’t jump to conclusions; there is more to learn within a situation.
Here is an excerpt from the Leo New Moon report: “At the time of a conjunction, two or more planets occupy the same degree of the zodiac, fusing the energy of the planets. Mars and Venus most primarily represent male and female energy, love and sex, beauty and creation. Relationships are likely to get more serious at this time with things heating up considerably. This is not for the faint-hearted.
“This is extremely fertile energy, and we can expect a passionate encounter or two. At best this will be spent experiencing pleasure, creative colorful inspiration, deepening trust and commitments. But watch your ego, pride, jealousy and insecurity from standing in the way of expressing your heart’s true desires.”
The Mars-Venus conjunction in Libra, although heightening passion and desire, requires delicate handling. We are dealing with Libra; the scales represent the fine balance required in relationships. We can’t go marching in, enforcing rules, and expect to win hearts or allies.
Given that the aspect occurs at the time of the Saturn-Pluto square, its effects are sure to reverberate over a longer period of time. This energy reminds me of the song “The Long Run” by The Eagles.
There’s a level of diplomacy required at a time when the ego may be raging strong. With the Sun and Neptune in opposition, be aware of denial or of projecting mistrust based in your own insecurities. There is no need to dilute your radiance, but any overpowering desire to “outshine” others needs to be checked at the door. Only compassion and cooperation will see us through.
With Mercury in Virgo, avoid the tendency to worry or criticize. Look for solutions, resolutions and healing instead. There is nothing fundamentally “wrong” with any situation. The Capricorn Moon will trine Mercury at the time of the
retrograde station, allowing us a deeper emotional understanding of the road ahead.
Tomorrow the Sun will oppose Chiron, offering an opportunity for blazing self-awareness and healing if we can be honest with ourselves and our hearts.
When one begins to follow the patterns of these heavenly bodies, it’s impossible to deny the divine order that exists within this Universe.
With the skies this full of passion, take the time to go enjoy your friends, turn up the volume and dance at home, appreciate art or just breathe in the beauty that surrounds you. It feels like a moment out of time. You won’t regret it. (And perhaps I will take my own advice and go see the Matisse exhibition I’ve been dying to.) Bye for now…

Hello Friends,
I’ve been looking at the sky, and given what’s going on, I felt inspired to record a set of audio forecasts for your Love, Relationship and Financial outlook over the rest of the year.
Here is a free Introduction; I’ll be back with the second part of this audio with forecasts for each sign, which can be purchased individually or as a set of 12. Of course, I welcome your feedback and would appreciate if you would post it to the blog.
I’m well aware that Mercury stations retrograde on Aug. 20, 2010 and in all honesty, I can say only God knows what possessed me to record these now. But I’m keeping my fingers crossed, and I’ll be back soon with Part 2 in the next few days.
While I’m here, a brief check with the sky today and tomorrow. It’s Wednesday afternoon here in NYC. The Moon is in currently in Sagittarius and enters Capricorn on Thursday morning in the US at 10:16 AM EDT, triggering the T-square.
With Mercury stationing retrograde, don’t be too quick to jump to conclusions. There’s more to this story that is still being told. Pay attention to what happens over these days; the next few days are a defining period for our relationships. Doors could slam shut as easily as they swing wide open. Act in confidence, self-reflection and awareness rather than doubt, mistrust, ego and pride.
Also over the next couple of days and Thursday, Venus and Mars sesquiquadrate Neptune in Aquarius. Relationships are the focus, and things are coming down to the wire. These aspects between Venus-Mars and Neptune could make for a high amount of idealism. Be honest with yourself about your need for acceptance and the need to offer another the same level of acceptance for their individuality.
In any relationship, we cannot change another person. The most we can hope for is to engage in mutually satisfying connections that help us bring out our highest, purest, most soulful and authentic self. This means allowing ourselves and others the freedom to be who we are, all the while learning from conflict so that we can widen our perspectives, enriching the “self” with greater compassion, tolerance and acceptance.

Dear Friends
There are deep passions and tensions brewing this week, along with a healthy dose of confusion and misunderstanding. But there are also opportunities for healing and for recognition of there being more to a story than meets the eye, which will ultimately work in our favor.
With the Moon in Scorpio, the past couple of days may have been gut-wrenchingly emotional, but this has hopefully also brought deep self-awareness. Also, earlier on Monday, Jupiter opposed Saturn, asking for wisdom as we work to find balance within relationships.
Now the Moon is in Sagittarius, helping us to see beyond the horizon, bringing wisdom and fresh optimism. Also today (Tuesday), the Sun sesquiquadarates the North Node, bringing a real chance to make a mark on our future.
On Aug. 20, 2010 Mercury stations retrograde in Virgo until Sep. 12, 2010. On the same day, in a span of 24 hours, the Sun opposes Neptune and Chiron, Venus conjuncts Mars in Libra, and Saturn squares Pluto –- and these are only the major aspects! (Please read the Leo New Moon report for detailed astrology and interpretation of these aspects.)
Communication may seem to halt as Mercury slows down, but there is important information due to surface. Pay attention to details; a small factor or seemingly insignificant piece of information that you learn could change your perspective and turn everything around. We are separating fact from fiction. Ultimately, this will be a valuable process of discovery, so be grateful for what you are learning.
Relationships are surely in focus. Be cautious of over-fantasizing, but the Saturn-Pluto square is sure to bring a heavy dose of reality to keep us grounded.
Just don’t allow yourself to get so bogged down by the pressure that you fail to recognize what is beautiful, special and important in your world. The Sun is still shining in Leo for another week, so don’t forget to have fun!
